My name is Elena Frederick and my particular love of chocolate led me to train on the East Coast as a pastry chef before coming home to work in the Cowichan Valley. After a few years as a pastry chef, a series of fortuitous events lead to me discovering my calling to become a chocolatier. In 2019, after several years creating chocolates for a local Shawnigan Lake company, I decided to go out on my own and Folklore Chocolates was born!

I work out of my Island Health approved kitchen at my home in Mill Bay, creating small batches of hand crafted chocolates using Callebaut
Couverture, and sourcing flavourings from local producers such as Westholme Tea, Foglifter Coffee and Rocky Creek Winery. I am
passionate about spreading joy through chocolate and creating products that taste as beautiful as they look!
